Today, we are proud to share the story behind one of our most meaningful initiatives: a growing collaboration between Bulgaria and Malta focused on exchanging expertise, innovation, and hope for visually impaired communities in both nations.

Where It All Began

The seeds of this partnership were planted through a powerful connection with the Visual Non-Visual Network, a dynamic Maltese non-profit organization dedicated to championing the rights, independence, and quality of life of blind and partially sighted people.

The Visual Non-Visual Network promotes a fresh perspective on sight loss. Their work spans community connection, assistive technology, accessible education, non-visual tourism, and creative empowerment. They advocate seeing "sight loss differently" — transforming challenges into opportunities for self-reliance, integration, and vibrant participation in society.

Our team of Bulgarian social entrepreneurs, committed to innovative solutions in social inclusion and cooperative models, recognized the immense value in this approach. What started as an inspiring discovery quickly evolved into active dialogue and a shared vision for cross-border cooperation.

A Meeting of Minds and Missions

This collaboration represents more than just a project — it is a bridge between two nations with complementary strengths. Malta brings rich experience in accessible tourism, community-based support networks, artistic and cultural initiatives for the visually impaired (such as tactile and multisensory art projects), and practical empowerment programs. Bulgaria contributes strong expertise in social entrepreneurship, inclusive education models, and developing sustainable cooperative frameworks that can scale impact.

Together, we are exploring how to:

• Exchange best practices in assistive technologies and non-visual skills training.

• Develop joint programs for employment, education, and independent living.

Created as part of an artistic exploration that transcends traditional sight, it embodies the power of feeling color, movement, and form through multiple senses. It reminds us that true vision comes from within and from connection.
